The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT") and the Standardization Administration of China ("SAC") have recently issued the Guide to the Building of the National Intelligent Manufacturing Standard System (2018 Version) (Draft for Comment) (the "Draft for Comment") for public consultation by February 14, 2018.
The Draft for Comment adjusts the fields of intelligent manufacturing in demand of major standards, underscores the enactment of industry standards, and also puts forward a clear annual plan for what standards will be formulated and amended in the forthcoming two years. Further, the Draft for Comment states that over 150 standards relating to intelligent manufacturing will have been formulated and updated in aggregate by 2018; and this figure will further grow to over 300 by 2019, covering all basic common standards and those for key technologies and gradually establishing a relatively complete system for intelligent manufacturing standards. Furthermore, the Draft for Comment has the meaning of "lifecycle dimension" revised to clarify the implication and boundary of five stages, including the design, manufacturing, logistics, sales and services, and introduces other amendments to what standards will be developed and how to organize and implement the building of the system.
