The China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) encourages the investment of insurance firms in medical institutions. They may also introduce the special technology and experiences in health insurance business of foreign entities via joint venture or share participation.
Chen Wenhui, assistant to CIRC's chairman, was quoted as saying recently that the insurance sector must try to win policy support from the government to promote the rapid development of the commercial health insurance business by virtue of the further reform of the Medical Care and Medicine System.
He said that the commission will consider effective ways for the cooperation of medical and insurance institutions, and encourage insurance companies to establish interest union or develop strategic cooperation with medical service groups, so as to establish a comprehensive medical risk control network and to promote their risk management ability in the health insurance sector.
