The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT") has recently issued the Guide to the Development and Promotion of Industrial Internet Platforms (the "Guide") and the Measures for the Assessment of Industrial Internet Platforms.
The Guide sets the goal of cultivating around ten cross-industry and cross-sector industrial internet platforms and a number of corporate-level industrial internet platforms intended for certain industries and certain regions, basically forming the large-scale development and promotion system for industry applications, and achieving significant breakthroughs in making major industry equipment cloud-based, by 2020. To this end, the Guide outlines 18 specific requirements in five respects, including "formulating standards for industrial internet platforms", "forming the ecology for industrial internet platforms" and "strengthening administration of industrial internet platforms". In addition, the Guide clearly states that actions will be taken to support developing open source communities for industry equipment protocols, instruct equipment manufacturers and automation enterprises to make open such source codes as equipment protocols, data formats and communications interfaces, create the case base and the tool kit for the collection of industry equipment data, encourage third parties to develop coordinated research and development platforms and trading platforms for industry applications to promote the trading of industry applications.
