The Ministry of Environmental Protection has solicited comments on two national environmental protection standards including the Standards for the Emission of Petrochemical Industrial Pollutants (Draft for Comment) (the "Draft"¬) by October 8, 2014.
In particular, the Draft specifies that the petrochemical industry refers to industrial enterprises or production facilities engaging in the production of organic chemicals, synthetic resin, synthetic fibre, synthetic rubber, etc. using petroleum fraction or natural gas as the raw material. The Draft sets out the limits for the emission of water and air pollutants generated by petrochemical industrial enterprises and their production facilities, as well as the requirements for the monitoring, supervision and administration thereof, which are proposed to be applicable to the administration of the emission of water and air pollutants generated by existing petrochemical industrial enterprises or their production facilities, the environmental impact assessment of petrochemical industrial construction projects, the design of environmental protection facilities thereof, the environmental protection acceptance check thereof, as well as the administration of emission of water and air pollutants after the projects are put into production.
