The National Information Security Standardization Technical Committee ("NISSTC") has recently issued the Key Tasks for 2018 (the "Key Tasks").
The Key Tasks state that efforts will be made this year to accomplish four missions, including continuing the research into setting up a system of national standards for cyber security and enacting the urgently needed standards, strengthening the implementation and publicity of, and training in various standards, boosting the level of substantial participation in drawing up international standards, and further reinforcing the buildup of mechanism for the NISSTC. As to the first mission, the Key Tasks make it clear to intensify research into the strategies and the system for the standardization of cyber security, speed up enacting and amending standards in urgent need, and initiate studies on working out standards for new technologies and new sectors. Furthermore, the Key Tasks set out the need to accelerate formulating national standards for certain areas, including security of network products and services, protection of critical information infrastructure, classified protection, cyber security situation awareness and information sharing, protection of data security and personal information, security of industrial internet, and cipher application.
