The Trademark Office of the National Intellectual Property Administration of China ("CNIPA") has recently issued the Announcement on Expanding the Scope of Trademark Matters Accepted by Non-Beijing Trademark Examination Cooperation Centers and Some Local Trademark Application Acceptance Windows (the "Announcement").
The Announcement expressly states that it is decided, after research, to widen the scope of trademark matters that could be accepted by non-Beijing trademark examination cooperation centers and some local trademark application acceptance windows; from November 1, 2018, applicants may handle multiple affairs concerning trademark application, at the nearest center or window. The list of application matters that could be accepted by such a center or window, affixed to this Announcement, sets out 24 matters, including "applying for the renewed registration of a trademark", "filing a record for the authorization to use a trademark", "applying for issuing the trademark registration certificate for an internationally-registered trademark under the Madrid Protocol" and "applying for the international registration of a trademark under the Madrid Protocol". Furthermore, the List of Non-Beijing Trademark Examination Cooperation Centers and Local Trademark Application Acceptance Windows Allowed to Accept Multiple Application Matters, is published along with this Announcement.
