The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology ("MIIT") has recently issued three sets of frameworks of assessment indicators, including the Framework of Assessment Indicators for Green Supply Chain Management Enterprises in the Automobile Industry (the "Framework of Indicators").
The Framework of Indicators sets out technical requirements for the green supply chain management in the auto industry, and categorizes indicators adopted to evaluate efforts of enterprises engaged in green supply chain management in the auto sector, into five groups which are indicators regarding management tactics, indicators related to green purchases and supplier management, indicators in regard to greener production, indicators with respect to green consumption and recycling, and indicators concerning the development of green information platforms and the disclosure of information. Relevant indicators under the Framework of Indicators are selected pursuant to characteristics of the green supply chain in the auto segment, in line with requirements of applicable regulations and standards and in consideration of the measurability of these indicators. According to the nature of the evaluation indicators, such indicators are divided into quantitative and qualitative ones. Furthermore, the Framework of Indicators provides a detailed description of the assessment approaches, adding that a manufacturer in the auto industry will be identified as a five-star one featuring green supply chain management in the auto segment, if it manages to earn 90 points or higher under indicators for green supply chain management.
