The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council has recently distributed the Circular on the Application of the Most-favored-nation Tariff Rates to Imported Goods Originating from the Republic of Kiribati (the "Circular").
The Circular reads that according to the Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Import and Export Duties and the Framework Agreement on Economic, Trade, Investment and Technical Cooperation between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Republic of Kiribati, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council has decided that starting July 1, 2020, the most-favored-nation (MFN) treatment will be provided to the Republic of Kiribati in terms of import and export duties, by applying the MFN tariff rates stipulated under the Tariff Schedule of the People's Republic of China for Imports and Exports (2020) to imported goods that originate from the Republic of Kiribati.
