The Ministry of Environmental Protection ("MEP") has issued the Guidelines for Risk Assessment of Enterprise Environmental Emergencies (for Trial Implementation) (the "Guidelines").
The Guidelines set out the content, procedures and methods of conducting risk assessment of enterprise environmental emergencies, and specify four circumstances under which enterprises shall classify or reclassify their environmental risk levels in a timely manner.
The Guidelines provide that enterprises may compile their environmental risk assessment reports by themselves or entrust the related professional technical service institutions to compile the environmental risk assessment reports. The environmental risk assessment content in an environmental impact assessment report for a newly-built, renovated or expanded project may serve as the key content of the environmental risk assessment report compiled by the enterprise concerned.
