Administrative Regulations of the People's Republic of China on Renminbi was adopted at the 24th executive meeting of the State Council on December 28, 1999. It is hereby promulgated and shall come into force as of May 1, 2000.

Chapter I General Provisions

Article 1 This document is formulated in accordance with the Law of the People's Republic of China on the People's Bank of China, with the purpose of strengthening management of Renminbi(hereinafter referred to as RMB for short), protecting creditability of RMB and stabilizing financial order.

Article 2 The 'RMB' mentioned herein shall refer to the currency legally issued by the People's Bank of China, including paper currency and coins.
This Regulation shall apply to activities in relation to design, printing, issuance, circulation and collection of RMB.

Article 3 The legal currency of the People's Republic of China is RMB.
